MacKinlay Ancient Lightweight Tartan is a bright green-based tartan with shades of green and a red overcheck. Woven using 100% Pure New Wool this tartan is available for made to measure products, accessories, soft furnishings and craft projects. Made here in our mill in Selkirk, Scotland.
In Gaelic the name is MacFhionnlaigh, meaning "son of Finlay", or Finlayson. Little is known regarding them, but during the Irish "plantation" of the 17th century, some MacKinlays are said to have settled in Ulster where the name appears as MacGinlay. People of the name were fairly numerous in the Glasgow area and near Loch Lomond.
