Modern MacMillan Hunting Medium Weight Tartan is a traditional blue-based tartan with shades of green and yellow.
There were MacMillans in Lochaber in the 12th century, but they later migrated to Lawers, in Perthshire. Clan MacMillan was in Knapdale, in Argyll, and Galloway. The Knapdale family gained importance and was considered the chief branch. Another prominent family was Dunmore. The Galloway MacMillans were noted Covenanters. The chiefship of the clan is now in the Laggalgarve branch.
